Istanbul - Site Visit #2 - Yeditepe University

Just finished with our visit to Yeditepe University, where we were graciously hosted by the administration and faculty, including Drs. Atilla and Ulku Dicle. After a lecture hall discussion (maybe our last time in a classroom together!) where we discussed higher education and the business environment in Turkey, we made our way across campus to a group lunch in the faculty dining hall, where we were joined by additional faculty members and university administration for a traditional Turkish lunch (The baklava was great!) and some continued conversation. One student (Dylan) was very excited to re-connect with his family's old friends, the Dicles, who had left the US over ten years ago to help start up the university, which they have seen grow from a few hundred students to over 18,000 today.

Walking through the campus we were impressed with the very modern, expansive facilities, and seeing the students (final exams are next week!) and a brief glimpse at Turkish college life was great (unfortunately we had to get back on the bus to keep on schedule and couldn't stay for Springfest '09!)
